I qualified in Dentistry from Dundee University in 1993 and have worked in General Practice since. I started my first practice in Edinburgh in 1998, expanding and moving into our current practice location in 2005. The practice was further improved and extended in 2011, providing more clinical space and improving our sterilisation facilities. I am extensively involved in the training of young dentists, providing mentoring and clinical support to newly qualified colleagues since 2005. The practice was British Dental Association Good Practice Scheme accredited in 2010.
I completed a diploma in advanced restorative dentistry at Edinburgh University in 2011 and in 2014 I completed a course in advanced dental implant dentistry at the Centre for Advanced Dental Education in Manchester, aiming to keep the practice at the forefront of oral health techniques.
In 2020 I became the first dentist in Scotland to pass the membership exam with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Advance General Dental Surgery. This exam is one of the highest accreditations achievable in General Dental Practice and makes me one of the most highly qualified general dentists in the UK.
The practice has recently been improved by the addition of a CBCT machine. One of a handful in Edinburgh, this machine allows for the most detailed of X-ray images, aiding diagnosis and improving patient care. For more information on CBCT: Click Here
Originally from Northern Ireland, I completed my dental training at The University of Glasgow, graduating in 2012, and spent the next few years completing my Vocational Training and working in General Practice in the Scottish Borders and East Lothian. I joined the team at Stuart Steven’s in 2015 providing all aspects of dentistry and take pride in both communicating and providing a high a standard of care that is tailored to each individual.
As Dentistry is always evolving I continually invest my time and effort in developing new skills and staying current with new techniques, technologies and materials. My particular areas of interest include comprehensive restorative dentistry, root canal treatment and discreet adult braces. Working with Stuart has further allowed me to expand my skills through the Scottish Vocational Training Programme where I have provided mentoring and clinical support to newly-qualified colleagues since 2017.
Having moved to Scotland from Northern Ireland, I graduated in dentistry from the University of Glasgow in 2020. I joined the team at Stuart Steven's as a vocational practitioner and have found both staff and patients to be extremely welcoming!
I have a particular interest in restorative dentistry and continually developing my skills to provide the most comprehensive and satisfactory treatment to my patients. I also really enjoy treating anxious patients, making the dental surgery as comfortable to be in as possible. Working alongside Stuart and Robbie has allowed me to broaden my skills and learn from their valuable experience.
I started my dental training at The University of Glasgow in 2012 after moving from Coleraine, Northern Ireland. Graduating in 2017, I moved to Balerno where I worked hard to complete my Vocational Training. In 2018 I joined general practice working in Balerno and West Granton to deliver high quality and bespoke care to patients. I joined Stuart Steven’s in late 2021 and I am determined to continue the thorough and exceptional care our patients have been receiving.
Within my surgery I aim to foster a relaxed atmosphere, to ensure even the most anxious patients feel at ease and reassured. I strive to work alongside each patient and give them the tools and guides they require to help maintain their oral health. I have a special interest in moving and aligning teeth to the best position that suits the patient’s face and smile; in assessing the occlusion and jaw joint, securing stability of dental work, reducing and preventing wear of the teeth, and ensuring longterm health of the TMJ; and lastly, using the latest restorative techniques, digital smile design, and using premium materials to create undetectable cosmetic white fillings, to create beautiful long-lasting smiles.
For the future I am planning to undertake a postgraduate diploma in primary care orthodontics, and a postgraduate diploma in restorative and aesthetic dentistry.

Been attending Stuart's practice since his days in Chester Street. Excellent service and staff always very friendly. I've just completed a course of implant work (seven in all) and the procedure, treatment and aftercare were second to none, but glad it's all over lol. Looking forward to returning to 6 monthly check ups. Thanks again to Stuart and the Team.
Never liked going too the dentist but now it's a breeze , professional and friendly . Had 5 teeth out never felt a thing . Robbie Rocks !!!!
Been with these guys 7 years from the staff to the reminder texts, this is a fantastic practice
I recently joined Stuart's practice in May and can honestly say that I am extremely impressed! The whole team are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and have all the modern equipment. Stuart carried out some cosmetic work on my front teeth including a front crown and white filling to close the gap that had gradually developed over the years. I could not have expected a better result! I have my smile back, which to me is priceless. Massive thanks to Stuart (and the team) for doing such a great job. Lisa-Ann
I have to say that after 10 days the implant bridge is a great success. It is fabulous to be without the denture.
I am delighted with the whole treatment. I was made fully aware of all the options for my mouth and the costs involved with detailed explanations of all the stages.
A big thank you to all.
